HELLO PAPIRUS!

In order to celebrate our school mascot Papirus, the octopus, we decided to make brouches from purple felt with all the pupils. As the pictures show, they turned out very well and the children were delighted to be able to take them home to show their families.

CHRISTMAS IS HERE!!!

The festive season has arrived again and all through our school the pupils have been combining hard work and creativity to come up with some beautiful pieces of work.
The primary ones managed to put together a Christmas tree in the corridor made up of individually decorated paper triangles, a very unique festive display!
Furthermore, all pupils enjoyed  imitating the British tradition of sending Christmas cards to their families after creating their own ones in class. We hope everyone has a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
Ho Ho Ho!

A SPECIAL VISIT FROM NEW ZEALAND

This week we were lucky enough to have a very special visit from New Zealand. Nick taught us about his beautiful country, "very similar to Galicia" - as he said. As he likes drawing He made some drawings for us: mountains, palm trees, ...
He told us about the Kiwi, a special bird that is very important in his country and about the Maori customs and he even spoke some words in Maori language.
We invite him to a trip to Santiago and we could show him a bit of our beautiful Galicia too.

Thank you Nick for sharing your time with us.

We wish you GOOD LUCK!

A PEDRA´S GRUFFALO

In Arts and Crafts we read the story of The Gruffalo, a frightening monster with big tusks and claws. Then we made our own storyboard version to display in the corridor so that all the other children could enjoy the tale as much as we did.
Here it is. Why don´t you read it for yourself?

EASTER EGG HUNT

On Friday we were lucky enough to have a visit from THE EASTER BUNNY who hid chocolate eggs around the playground for us to find.
Each egg had a name on it so once we had found one, we had to hand it to its owner. In years 3 and 4, we got into the Easter spirit by making bunny ears to wear for the Egg Hunt. In years 1 and 2, we made our own Easter egg designs. In years 5 and 6, we learn about Easter traditions in the UK. It was really great fun!!!
Here you can see some pictures.

HAPPY EASTER

EASTER is the most important festival in the church year, most important than Christmas. People begin to get ready forty days before Easter Sunday. This forty days are called LENT.
HOT CROSS BUNS are traditionally served on Good Friday. They are made of flour, sugar, butter, egg and dried fruit with pastry crosses.

There is also a traditional song:

Hot cross buns, hot cross buns,
one a penny, two a penny,
hot cross buns.
If you have no daughters,
give them to your sons,
One a penny, two a penny,
Hot cross buns.

Some animals we associate with Easter are chicks, bunnies and butterflies that represent re-birth, fertility and new life.
